Morning Routine

Mornings are so sacred to me. It is such a blessing to be able to come back to the small habits & rituals that make you feel your best and set the tone for the day ahead. To find that space in solitude. To ground.

I have a few non-negotiables that I find make such a difference to how I show up, and find so easy to keep coming back to:

  1. Don’t Touch Your Phone!

I once heard someone say “Scrolling on Instagram first thing in the am is like letting hundreds of people scream over each other to you the second you wake up”. This couldn’t be more true. Allow yourself to wake up slowly, acknowledge how you are feeling and just sit with that for a bit. This is probably the only time you have the luxury of doing that for yourself.

 

  1. Hydrate : Warm Water With Lemon & Electrolytes

We all wake up slightly de-hydrated, and this is the perfect way to re-nourish and get your system going. I firstly make my Warm water with a nice squeeze of lemon as the perfect way to kick-start digestion, boost metabolism and hydrate. I then like to froth up my electrolyte with cold water – I use LMNT’s Watermelon Salt electrolyte – Delicious! These two come with me and we go sit back in bed…

 

  1. Read & Meditate

As I sip on my drinks, I’ll usually read just a few pages of a good self-help/spirituality book – It just feels great to start the day with a useful tip or piece of wisdom. I then do a quick meditation for about 10 mins (or 15 if I have the time). This is by far the most fundamental part of my morning and the one that connects you so deeply to one’s self. You better hope you don’t catch me before I’ve meditated – not pretty :) 

 

  1. Skincare

I am and always have been a skincare fanatic. This step just makes me so happy – Marianna Hewitt (Cofounder of Summer Fridays) recently said on a podcast: “The enjoyment you feel putting a product on is just as important as the product itself”. I genuinely love the whole process of finding the right formulas that do just that. I will share my current Skincare Secrets with you soon...

 

  1. Morning Glory, Matcha, & Movement

Save the best for last – the Magic Three. Firstly, I spray the space with our beloved Morning Glory, which makes the room smell Fresh, Creamy and Divine. This is a Hug in a Mug, but in the form a spray.

I then make my Matcha which has been a gamechanger for me, and is really delicious when made right. High in antioxidants and L-theanine, it is the perfect alternative to coffee without the crashes. Check out our Signature Matcha Latte.

At this point, I’ll get my planner out, look at my day ahead and answer any urgent emails while sipping on my Matcha Latte.

 Movement in the morning is a must for me – you never regret it. Even if it’s a short flow, your body will love you for it. I personally feel my best doing gentle, yet very effective Pilates & Yoga flows. I’ll usually do MWH at home or a Reformer Pilates class if I have a bit more time. It is important to listen to your body and do what makes you really feel your best. This is just what works best for me :)
